About the Client:

The client is a U.S. based solo family law firm seeking a highly dependable and proactive Legal Assistant to provide ongoing administrative and legal support in a remote environment. The firm values integrity, accountability, and strong communication above all else and is looking for someone who can work independently while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail. This role will support day to day legal operations and help streamline processes during a period of continued growth.

About the Role:

The Legal Assistant will support the client with a combination of legal administrative tasks, case management support, client communication, and document preparation. This position requires someone who is highly organized, comfortable working remotely, and capable of managing responsibilities with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate is confident, detail oriented, and proactive enough to communicate openly, suggest improvements, and take ownership of their work. This is a part time position with potential for growth in both hours and compensation over time.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Documentation & Case Support

  • Draft and format pleadings, motions, legal correspondence, and other documents using templates provided by the client
  • Assist with document preparation and maintain accuracy and consistency across legal files
  • Support case organization and ensure documentation is properly stored and updated

Client & Witness Communication

  • Conduct client and witness interviews to gather information and summarize findings clearly
  • Maintain professional communication with clients while handling sensitive information confidentially
  • Follow up on pending information and ensure proper documentation of conversations

Administrative & Calendar Management

  • Manage calendars, deadlines, appointments, and task tracking
  • Organize digital files and create and maintain document naming conventions
  • Assist with general law firm administrative support and workflow coordination

Legal Research & Systems Management

  • Conduct light legal research using public resources and legal databases provided by the client
  • Learn and navigate cloud based legal practice management platforms such as MyCase or similar systems
  • Adapt quickly to new tools and internal processes during onboarding

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate proactively regarding deadlines, questions, or potential issues
  • Work independently while maintaining alignment with the client’s expectations and priorities
  • Provide thoughtful feedback, suggestions, and process improvements when appropriate

Qualifications & Skills:

Must

  • 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or similar legal support role
  • Previous experience supporting U.S. based law firms remotely
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with legal documentation, scheduling, and administrative support
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Availability to work 20 hours per week within Eastern Time business hours, preferably mornings
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Preferred

  • Experience working within family law environments
  • Familiarity with MyCase or similar legal practice management platforms
  • Experience conducting client intake or witness interviews
  • Experience performing light legal research
  • Exposure to social media management or content coordination
