United States onlyGlobal Language Strategies is seeking a freelance translator, editor, and/or transcriber to translate, edit, and/or transcribe legal documents between French and English. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of legal terminology in both English and the target language.
Requirements
- Provide accurate translation of documents and/or transcription of audio files involving law enforcement and legal subject matter from French <> English.
- Edit audio transcriptions with slang and idioms.
- Edit legal documents, such as affidavits, depositions, etc., while demonstrating a strong command of legal terminology in both English and the target language.
- Translate and/or transcribe following the government client’s style guides and quality standards.
- Use domain-specific terminology.
- Review and certify the quality of other translators’ work, as needed.
- Highly proficient in MS Office, with the ability to mirror source document format in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiar with the use of CAT tools, such as Trados Studio.
- Abide by a code of ethics when performing transcription and translation work.
