What you’ll do

As a Power Systems Analyst you will play a key role in Giga Energy's data center expansion initiatives by identifying and securing excess capacity and optimal grid interconnection points. This role requires collaborating with utilities, internal teams, and external stakeholders to build a pipeline of new electrical capacity to support our internal data center growth.

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in utility interconnection processes, understanding of utility-grade electrical infrastructure, and modeling of utility electrical rates.

Where you’ll work

This role can be performed fully remote from your home offices.

Responsibilities

  • Capacity Planning: Identify and pursue opportunities to expand electrical grid capacity to support future data center projects.
  • Technical Assessments: Conduct comprehensive technical evaluations of potential interconnection points, including feasibility studies, capacity assessments, and technical requirement analyses.
  • Load Interconnection Applications: Prepare detailed load interconnection applications, including the development of conceptual single-line diagrams to support project submissions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, construction, and land departments, as well as external partners to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all interconnection activities adhere to applicable regulatory standards and utility requirements.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate technical documentation of interconnection processes, equipment configurations, and project milestones.

Requirements

  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience in electrical infrastructure engineering, with a focus on modeling, simulating, and analyzing power distribution systems and load interconnection.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of power systems architecture, electrical design, and grid interconnection processes.
  • Utility Coordination Skills: Proven experience navigating utility processes to secure interconnection points and expand grid capacity.
  • Data Center Knowledge: Familiarity with data center infrastructure basic requirements.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Project Management Abilities: Demonstrated experience managing multiple interconnection projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and project objectives are met.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel up to 10% to visit potential sites, meet with utility partners, and attend industry events.

Who We Hire

We don't use "A-player" loosely. Here's what it actually means at Giga:

Antifragile. You don't just survive chaos, you get better because of it. When things break, change, or move sideways, you don't freeze. You adapt faster than the problem evolves.

High Agency. You don't wait to be told what to do. You see the gap, you fill it. If something is blocking progress, you find a way around it, over it, or through it without asking for permission.

Executors. Ideas are cheap. We hire people who ship. You're the person who turns a whiteboard sketch into something real while everyone else is still scheduling the next meeting about it.

Bias to Action. Perfect is the enemy of done. You'd rather make a decision with 80% of the information and course correct than sit around waiting for 100% that never comes.

Speed. We move fast because the opportunity demands it. You're not reckless, but you understand that in this industry, the team that moves fastest wins. And you like winning.

We are Giga Energy, and we're driven by a simple yet powerful idea: to build the electrical infrastructure that powers the modern world. Our journey began in 2019 when, as operators ourselves, we experienced firsthand the frustrations of sourcing critical energy equipment. We were tired of the endless compromises between fast lead times, quality engineering, and fair pricing. It was out of this challenge that Giga Energy was born. We set out to break this cycle of compromise, determined to offer our partners something better. We started by welding our first modular data centers in East Texas, and from there, we've grown into a global team dedicated to delivering excellence without excuses. Our focus is on designing, manufacturing, and operating a complete line of transformers, UL891 switchboards, and innovative data centers. We're particularly proud of our work in turning wasted energy, like flared natural gas from oil fields, into a valuable resource for powering bitcoin mining and other energy-intensive applications.

Our approach is rooted in American engineering and a robust global supply chain, with teams in Houston, Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Mumbai all working in concert. This allows us to maintain industry-best lead times without sacrificing the quality our partners depend on. We're not just a manufacturer; we're operators, just like many of our customers. We run the very equipment we build, constantly iterating and improving our products based on real-world performance. This unique perspective allows us to serve as a true partner, helping others scale their operations with the same reliable and efficient infrastructure we use ourselves. From our initial focus on mitigating flare gas to expanding into on-grid colocation sites, our mission has remained the same: to provide the critical power and cooling infrastructure that underpins progress. We believe that buying electrical equipment should be more than a transaction; it should be an experience that builds trust from the initial drawings all the way to final delivery.
