Genetic Algorithm Specialist / Machine Learning Engineer

Product Overview

We are developing a digital product which allows creating building technical design. Our focus is to radically decrease the time spent by domain experts to bring building models, which are ready for production and construction. To achieve this we rely on parametric computations and developing complex algorithms, focused on creating affordable and CO2 friendly architectures.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Genetic Algorithm Specialist / Machine Learning Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will focus on developing and implementing genetic algorithms to optimize architectural designs for minimal material usage while ensuring structural integrity and compliance with industry standards.

Tasks

• Develop and maintain genetic algorithm frameworks for optimizing structural layouts and material efficiencies in building designs.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to integrate GA methodologies with existing design and analysis tools.
• Experiment with and implement machine learning techniques to enhance the performance of genetic algorithms.
• Analyze and interpret data from simulations to inform design decisions.
• Ensure that all algorithmic solutions are scalable, sustainable, and efficiently integrate with AEC industry tools like Revit, ETABS, OneClick, EnergyPlus, etc.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest research in genetic algorithms, machine learning, and their applications in the AEC industry.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders and team members.
• Contribute to the development of internal tools and processes to streamline the design and optimization workflow.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on matters relating to computational design and optimization.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• Proven experience with genetic algorithms, optimization techniques, and machine learning models.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++
• Experience with AEC industry software (Revit, ETABS, Rhino, Grasshopper, etc.) is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with structural analysis, building physics, and sustainability principles.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong foundation in mathematics and statistics.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
