Summary/Objective of Position:

Office of Student Engagement & Leadership, Student Affairs is looking to hire eight (8) temporary full-time College Interns-Research Assistants for Ascendium Paid Internship Program. This program offers students the opportunity to gain meaningful applied work experience in a professional environment throughtemporary placements on campus. Ascendium Paid Internship Program provides individuals a chance to explore various career options within their field of study. To apply, candidates must submit a complete application packet, which includes: Employment application, a letter of interest, two recommendation letters (one instructor preferred), unofficial transcripts, and Fall 2026 class schedule.

Description of Essential Functions of the Position

College Interns-Research Assistants will assist with administrative and office support for various departments on campus.

Administrative support tasks include creating and maintaining databases, researching and compiling data, proofreading and editing publications, planning events, updating websites, and working on other assigned projects. The role demands strong multi-tasking abilities and the capacity to work effectively under pressure. Draft, type, or print reports, general correspondence, spreadsheets, emails, and memorandums in line with departmental standards. Answer phone calls, make outgoing calls, respond to department or program-related inquiries, and send written materials as directed. Communicate, engage, and support departmental staff and employees as assigned. Assist in planning events and activities for the organization. Support employees and staff in achieving organizational goals and objectives. Attend Zoom meetings, conferences, and other organizational events, taking notes on behalf of the department. Contribute to planning and assessment efforts to help meet organizational goals and objectives. Observe adhere to the work environment in line with the organizational strategy and structure. Be open to supporting and assisting with vari9ous programs and projects to gain a better understanding of the diverse responsibilities within the department or program. Provide administrative assistance for weekly, monthly, or quarterly reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Minimum & Preferred:

  • Minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Be enrolled part- or full-time student at Diné College in Fall 2026 semester
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at Diné College and have completed at least 24 credit hours at the College
  • Must be in good academic and social standing

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of Zoom, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel is required.
  • Exceptionally well organized with excellent follow-through abilities.
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrate agility to shift directions in response to changing work situations.
  • Knowledge of on-line and in-person campus resources.

Skills:

  • Proficient organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and duties.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to document and outline meetings on behalf of the organization or department.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various individuals and managers.
  • Efficient social skills to present and conduct group activities.
  • Be punctual and respectful to coworkers and management.

Abilities:

  • Ability to follow directions and complete assignments.
  • Ability to learn and use various software and innovative technology.
  • Willingness to mentored and trained regarding organizational duties and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Diné College Student Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to conduct research at secondary level.
  • Ability to commit to 20-hours a week to work responsibilities and maintain high academic standards simultaneously.

Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:

  • Must be able to life more than 20 pounds, repetitive bending/reaching, standing, sitting, climbing, twisting, walking, or running for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work remotely through telework if needed.

Other Requirement(s):

  • Knowledge of Navajo Culture & Language is preferred.
  • Coordinate and organize meeting and special events.
  • Oral fluency in the Navajo language is desired, but not required.
