IMS SYSTEM TASKS

  • Installation / configuration MSY related IMS DBDC Instances:
    • Installation and configuration of DBDC instance
    • Setting up of backups for system files of the database instance (without application components)
    • Integration of the database instance into the system monitoring
    • Integration of the database instance into the z/OS system automation
    • Integration of the database instance into the standard reporting (DB Instance Availability)
    • Setting up the database basic system security (DB-internal/-external (e.g.: RACF, TSS))
  • Maintain, develop Methods and Tools for Operations.
  • Support to maintain the Administration of DBDC Basis Security.
  • IMS DBDC System Programming, administration parameters and options.
  • IMS DBDC System Administration Operations (Creation, Update, deletion System Objects in DBDC instances).
  • Support for related SW Procurement, Path Management, development migration Concepts, Version and Release Upgrades.
  • Prevention and Tuning (maintenance, system tuning, manage 3rd Level Support).
  • Support development of System Automation and Monitoring procedures.
  • Support administration and execution of the Standard Reporting.
  • System Generations.
  • Ensuring Data Consistency of All System Files.
  • Execution of backup of all System Data.
  • Archiving OLDS,LOGs etc, Admin System Log Files
  • Troubleshooting.
  • Incident, Problem, Change Management.
  • Audit issues remediation.
  • Documentation (system and operating documentation) for IMS DBDC Systems
  • Implementation High Availability IMS solutions.

IMS DBA TASKS

  • Set Up Backup of application databases & database Recovery.
  • Reorganization/Loads/Unload
  • Monitoring DB size of the application databases.
  • Administration runs for maintenance of the system objects.
  • Review of the physical DB consistency (DB Checker)
  • DBA- Administration (e.g.: define, delete, generate, reorganize) of application databases.
    • Provided day to day Application DBA support for Application changes.
    • Performed PSB/ACB GEN DB utility requests, Change requests
    • Monitored database performance and space utilization and tuned databases
    • Monitored physical DBMS for performance and capacity requirements before and after the implementation.
    • Created IMS jobs for Reorgs, Unload, Load, Image copy, Refresh etc.
    • Provided application support, recommended, and implemented changes in Production.
  • Skills for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Mainframe related IMS DBDC Systems.
  • Skills to perform IMS DBA tasks supporting Application Changes from IMS point of view.
  • Skills to operate related IMS Monitors.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar position with equivalent responsibility, and desirable up to 10000 hours performing different Mainframe Technical positions.
  • Good Knowledge of IMS DBDC sub systems architecture and of IMS related SW (i.e. IMS admin tools, IMS DB Automatic tools, cloning tools, development supporting tools, IMS monitors, etc.).
