Join Centric Consulting – A Culture You’ll Love
At Centric Consulting, we've cultivated a unique approach to business. Our business is built on three fundamental principles: Enjoy the people you work with, have fun, and do great work. These principles define our consulting model and have crafted one of the most vibrant cultures in the consulting industry – celebrating individuals, collaboration, and lifelong friendships.
We’re expanding our “machine‑side” capabilities to help clients configure and prepare data on controllers, PLCs, robots, and shop‑floor devices. As a Senior Controls Engineer, you’ll be the go‑to expert for connecting diverse industrial equipment, enabling reliable data collection, and making plant‑floor systems talk to the edge and the cloud. You won’t need to program robots day‑to‑day—the focus is industrial communications and connectivity across multiple PLC ecosystems.
In this role, you will:
- Connect & configure a wide range of PLCs and industrial devices for secure, reliable data acquisition.
- Implement and troubleshoot industrial protocols including Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, Modbus TCP, Profibus, and others.
- Set up and optimize data flows using protocol gateways/converters (e.g., Kepware, Matrikon) and SCADA systems.
- Diagnose communication issues and resolve interoperability challenges across mixed vendor environments.
- Collaborate with solution teams to design integrations from plant floor to edge platforms and analytics solutions.
- Document configurations and standards so solutions are repeatable, supportable, and scalable.
Who You Are:
- 3–5+ years as a Controls Engineer (system integrator background strongly preferred).
- Hands‑on experience programming 3 or more PLC families (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi).
- Deep understanding of industrial networking & protocols (Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, Modbus TCP, Profibus, etc.).
- Experience with Kepware, Matrikon, and/or other protocol converters and SCADA platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across heterogeneous environments; comfortable switching between vendors and tools.
Clear communication, client‑facing professionalism, and a bias for documenting/standardizing solutions.
- Nice to Have: Experience with edge connectivity platforms (e.g., Litmus Edge) or similar. Exposure to robot controllers and how they expose data (no robot programming required).
- Familiarity with ISA‑95/OT architectures and secure data pathways to MES/ERP/cloud.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Location: Remote mostly but there will be some on-site work needed throughout the lifecycle of the project to five locations: (Clinton, PA, Tijuana, Gauymas, Quebec, Malaysia).
The total of all phases is expected to be 10 months+.
Total Rewards:
We proudly offer competitive compensation, a comprehensive and well-rounded benefits package for full-time employees that have been designed to nourish your well-being, such as health coverage, wellness programs, 401K company match, self-managed PTO, and other unique incentives that celebrate your accomplishments.
