POSITION SUMMARY: The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining CVAUSA's data infrastructure to support analytics and value-based care initiatives. This role focuses on data ingestion from payor partners, data modeling for healthcare claims and EHR data, and implementing data quality frameworks to ensure accurate reporting and analytics. This position will establish best practices for data warehousing, data quality management, and data engineering development lifecycle.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to):
Data Infrastructure: Design and implement automated pipelines for healthcare claims and EHR data ingestion via SFTP and other protocols using Prefect orchestration. Establish data lineage tracking and validation processes.
Data Modeling: Build and maintain analytics-ready data models in Snowflake using dbt-core. Implement the Tuva Health Data Model and transform raw claims/EHR data to support clinical and utilization tracking.
Data Quality: Design comprehensive validation rules, automated monitoring, and alerting systems. Track data health metrics and implement remediation processes to ensure reporting accuracy.
Technical Leadership: Establish best practices for data warehousing, version control, and SDLC standards. Document processes, mentor team members, and stay current with healthcare data standards
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years in data engineering with proven pipeline design and implementation experience
- Advanced SQL proficiency (Snowflake preferred) for complex queries and data modeling
- Strong dbt-core experience building transformation pipelines and quality tests
- Workflow orchestration experience (Prefect preferred)
- Healthcare claims data experience with knowledge of medical coding (ICD, CPT, DRG)
- Demonstrated ability implementing data quality frameworks and monitoring
- Git proficiency and data engineering SDLC best practices
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- US work authorization required (sponsorship not available)
