Our Fortune 100 financial services client is seeking a seasoned Program Manager of Credit & Debit Card Conversions to support a major card processor migration initiative for a large U.S. credit union. This consultant will oversee the full lifecycle of two processor conversions—a debit card conversion scheduled for March 2026 and a credit card conversion in June 2026.
The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in both debit and credit card processor conversions, deep understanding of card operations, and experience managing cross-functional workstreams through complex migration timelines. This role requires proactive leadership, hands-on execution, and continuity across both conversions.
The Details:
- Location: Fully remote within the United States; must be able to work according to Mountain Time.
- Duration: Approximately a 6-month consulting role through Blend with potential for extension (must be able to work on Blend’s W2).
- Travel: Occasional travel may be required for conversion weekends, anticipated for March 14–15, 2026 and June 20–21, 2026
- Benefits: We do offer benefits to our full-time consultants, including Health, Vision, Dental, 401K plan, Life Insurance, Employee Assistance Programs, and an incredibly supportive team cheering you on!
What you’ll do:
- Lead the end-to-end execution of debit and credit card processor conversions, ensuring alignment across business, operations, technology, and vendor teams.
- Guide the project through discovery, workflow mapping, planning, readiness, testing, and cutover weekends.
- Manage cross-functional workstreams, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, timelines, and dependencies.
- Coordinate with external processor and services organizations, including Velera (PSCU/Co-op), FIS, Fiserv, and other card processing partners as relevant.
- Partner with the credit union’s internal stakeholders to assess readiness, integration points, risks, and operational impacts of both conversions.
- Drive the migration of payment and card-processing functions from the current processor to the new platform (Symcor).
- Oversee and track all conversion-related activities, including:
- Core system integration
- Issuer and cardholder impacts
- Data mapping and file processing
- Testing cycles and certification
- Mock conversions and cutover rehearsals
- Provide structured governance, status reporting, risk management, and executive updates.
- Work behind the credit union’s firewall as part of the extended delivery team, ensuring seamless collaboration.
- Support command center operations and issue escalation during conversion weekends.
- Maintain continuity and leadership across both conversions to ensure strategic alignment and a smooth handoff to post-conversion support teams.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years of program management experience leading both debit and credit card processor conversions.
- Hands-on experience working with major platforms such as Velera (PSCU/Co-op), FIS, Fiserv, or similar issuer processing environments.
- Strong understanding of core banking platforms, card operations, and payment ecosystem players.
- Demonstrated success migrating issuer portfolios from one processor to another — ideally multiple conversions.
- Expertise in cross-functional program delivery, risk management, issue resolution, and stakeholder communication.
- Prior experience of working with or supporting credit unions strongly preferred.
Technical & Domain Skills:
- Deep knowledge of card processing functions (authorization, settlement, fraud, disputes, cardholder servicing).
- Familiarity with certification processes, file layouts, inbound/outbound data flows, and integration patterns.
- Experience coordinating vendor activities and ensuring alignment between core, processor, and servicing teams.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication and executive presence, with the ability to influence and guide senior stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage complexity, competing priorities, and tight timelines.
- Analytical, proactive, and highly structured in approach.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to build trust across cross-functional teams.
- Calm and decisive leadership in high-pressure cutover scenarios.
