Role: Senior Infrastructure Project Manager (Server & DC Migration)
Domain/Sector: Global Financial Services / Tier-1 Banking
Location: Remote (USA) | Toronto, Canada (Future Project Alignment with Canadian Operations)
Duration: 6 Months + Extension (Long-term program)
Project Overview
We are seeking an expert Infrastructure Project Manager to lead a critical, high-visibility Data Center (DC) Migration for a major North American financial institution. This role focuses on the end-to-end server workstream, migrating mission-critical banking workloads from legacy US-based facilities into modernized, hybrid-cloud environments and synchronized Canadian regional hubs.
Core Responsibilities
- Migration Strategy & Execution: Lead large-scale "Migration Waves" (Physical-to-Virtual and Virtual-to-Cloud) for thousands of Windows and Linux servers.
- Regulatory Compliance: Navigate strict financial industry regulations (OSFI, OCC, and NIST) to ensure data sovereignty and security standards are met across US and Canadian borders.
- Dependency Mapping: Oversee complex application discovery and dependency mapping to ensure zero-impact to retail and commercial banking operations.
- Governance & Reporting: Manage the project’s RAID log (Risks, Actions, Issues, Decisions) and present weekly velocity reports to executive steering committees.
- Change Management: Act as the primary owner for high-risk Change Requests (CRs) within an enterprise ITSM environment, ensuring all cutovers meet "Gold Standard" banking requirements.
- Vendor & Engineering Liaison: Facilitate communication between third-party infrastructure partners and internal server/network engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
- Industry Experience: 10+ years of IT Project Management, specifically within Banking or Financial Services.
- Migration Expertise: Must have successfully led at least two full-lifecycle Data Center exits/consolidations for large enterprise environments.
- Cross-Border Knowledge: Familiarity with the operational nuances of managing IT projects that span both US and Canadian jurisdictions (e.g., PIPEDA/Data Residency).
- Certifications: PMP or Prince2 is required; ITIL or Cloud certifications (Azure/AWS) are a significant plus.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Zero High-Priority Incidents: Ensuring migration cutovers do not result in unplanned downtime for banking services.
- Timeline Adherence: Meeting "Wave" deadlines to avoid costly legacy data center holdover fees.
- Regulatory Alignment: 100% pass rate on internal and external infrastructure audits during the migration.
