ABOUT US

REBUILD.US, an initiative of the Amalgamated Foundation, is a rapid response fundraising initiative that aims to direct millions of dollars to the most effective organizations on the ground in areas hit by climate change disasters.

REBUILD.US is advancing a new model for disaster response. Launched in August 2025, REBUILD is a fundraising, grantmaking, and storytelling platform, moving funds in 48 hours of a disaster to experienced, local leaders who are in community both before the disaster strikes and long after the headlines fade. REBUILD invests in immediate care and relief operations that enlist survivors of climate shocks to organize for systems change solutions throughout long-term recovery and beyond. The successful pilot of this work was designed and developed at Organizing Resilience across 17 disasters with 85 local organizations.

The underlying premise behind REBUILD is that billions of dollars are channeled to charity in post-disaster moments but mainly to global legacy organizations that provide temporary aid and rarely stay for long-term recovery. This flow of resources fails to invest in local organizations that work in the community year-round and know how to get help to where it's most needed, fast. This resource system also fails to address systemic problems that are exacerbated by the climate disasters, such as housing, economic insecurity, fossil fuel pollution, extractive land and water use, broken immigration system, and voter disenfranchisement.

Given this compelling case for a new and equitable response, and through first-person disaster survivor storytelling, there is great opportunity to build a national grassroots movement of supporters.

The Digital Operations Manager is a new role. The ideal candidate is a proactive, energetic, self-starter who brings their technical skills as well as a creative approach to digital fundraising and marketing. The candidate will be well versed in “lean start up” practices and incredibly disciplined about testing in order to scale. The Manager must be passionate about building the back-end infrastructure to maximize growth and learning while bringing deep technical skills, a detail-oriented approach to data, and a rapid-response approach to all digital fundraising. This ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a rapid response environment, has incredibly strong technical proficiency, and enjoys the creation of smooth and dependable processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Broadly this role will work closely with the Senior Director to help execute the efficient and most effective programs to grow the digital fundraising program, especially during rapid response moments of climate disasters. This will include rigorous testing of traditional email, SMS and paid digital ads and influencer marketing – along with exploration of new tactics and strategies.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Director, plan, write, and schedule emails and SMS for the digital fundraising program, including high-impact campaigns, acquisition, cultivation, retention, and upgrade strategies.
  • Develop & execute distinct email & SMS strategies 1) during rapid response and 2) during “blue sky” periods outside of disasters.
  • On the full oversight and analytics of the donor file” – as the donor file grows, analyze donor data to define key audience segments, developing distinct personas for each and tailoring communications to these segments.
  • Oversee and execute payment processing and donation page creation – especially during rapid response – and other digital/technical needs supporting digital fundraising.
  • Manage and administer the technology for all online and marketing accounts and profiles and ensure they adhere to internal cyber security standards.
  • Support the creation, design, edit and distribution of all donor marketing materials, such video content, social content, SEO/website pages, social media toolkits, creative for ads etc.
  • Oversee timely reporting and data management systems, ensuring they are supporting the growth of the online programs.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of consultants to ensure timely deliverables.
  • Ensure all REBUILD.US website pages and donation forms are updated and tested to optimize content and donor conversion.
  • Build relationships and the REBUILD.US brand with online donors through strategic updates, asks and cultivation.
  • Build and maintain deep relationships with allies and partner organizations to activate in key moments.
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4- 6 years of experience in non-profit, campaign, or disaster relief online/digital fundraising or marketing with rapid-response experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to thrive joyfully in a rapid response environment.
  • Proven experience with online and email marketing including writing, testing and analyzing results.
  • Extreme attention to detail in a must.
  • Experience building new processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Ability to build deep and trusted relationships with external stakeholders including peer organizations.
  • Experience in content-driven fundraising including storytelling, brand voice, and authentic narratives.
  • Strong personal, organizational, program, and time management skills; research and writing skills; and strong interpersonal communications skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in CRM and email marketing platforms (e.g., EveryAction, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Mailchimp). Must have a proven ability to segment, analyze, and interpret donor data to drive strategic decisions.
  • Must bring a collaborative, self-starting, proactive approach.
  • Is both goal and detail-oriented, with an entrepreneurial and innovative drive and spirit.
  • Is proficient in all relevant online and social media platforms.
  • Travel is required up to 15% for this position.

Salary, Benefits, Location, and Eligibility

    • $80,000 - 100,000 annually, commensurate to experience.
