Program Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Graphic Design Intern to collaborate with our experienced Senior Graphic Designers at Acuity Brands. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our Marketing Creative Services team and gain hands-on experience designing campaign and event collateral for our wide portfolio of brands. The ideal candidate should have a passion for design, a keen eye for detail, and a desire to learn and grow within the field.
The Acuity Brands Internship Program is a 10–12-week experience (May – August, 40 hours/week) designed to develop high-potential candidates into marketing leaders through hands-on experiences that connect interns’ strengths and interests with the needs of the business.
In addition to making an impact through your participation in key projects and transformative processes, you will have an opportunity to mentor and network with leaders throughout Acuity Brands.
It is preferred for interns to only have one or two semesters left in their degree program, so they can be considered for our Leadership Program immediately following the completion of the internship. Our Leadership Program is a full-time, entry level rotational program that allows recent graduates to explore different areas within a functional area. These experiences allow young talent to grow their skill set and network within the company while figuring out what they are passionate about early on in their careers.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
While specific projects and activities vary during your internship, you can expect to:
Graphic Design
• Participate in the creative process by contributing ideas, feedback, and execution of graphic design projects.
• Assist in creating visuals for digital and print advertising, social media, marketing materials, and more.
• Help create design templates for recurring project types.
• Participate in the development of campaign concepts and contribute to the overall look and feel of campaigns.
Design Support
• Work closely with the Senior Designers to provide creative support on various projects.
• Collaborate with the team to generate alternative design solutions when necessary.
Branding
• Assist in refining brand visual identity elements, including logos, colors, typography, and visual aesthetics.
• Support the implementation of brand guidelines across various platforms.
• Collaborate with the Senior Designers to maintain and update design guides.
Professional Development
• Engage in ongoing learning and development to enhance skills in graphic design and related technologies.
• Explore new design trends and technologies to contribute fresh perspectives to the team.
Education Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
In addition to pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university, qualified interns will have:
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within a team environment.
- Knowledge of design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Basic understanding of visual design principles, including composition, color theory, and typography.
- Relevant internship or project experience
- A minimum GPA of 3.0
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven problem-solving capabilities
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- Experience leading teams or organizations

The range for this position is $32,300.00 to $72,800.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
