Role Overview
Contractors will focus on migrating analyst-owned datasets from Redshift to Databricks for a casino business. The work directly impacts Tableau dashboards and automated reporting, making accuracy and validation critical.
Responsibilities & Daily Tasks
Migrate tables from Redshift to Databricks.
Rewrite SQL queries using the Databricks catalog.
Validate outputs by comparing Databricks results against Redshift data.
Perform QA and raise tickets when discrepancies are detected.
Collaborate closely with Erica, who will support domain-specific or complex tables.
Work with analyst-owned casino datasets (separate from Foundation or core data engineering views).
Requirements
Excellent communication skills.
Proactive mindset and strong attention to detail.
Strong SQL skills, including complex queries.
Hands-on experience with Databricks.
Experience in QA and data validation processes.
Nice to Have
Experience documenting changes and migrations.
Experience working with casino or gaming data.
Familiarity with data validation or observability tools.

Knowledge Transfer & Onboarding
Training will include examples of successful migrations and defined processes (some still evolving).
The goal is to build a knowledge base / runbook to support efficient onboarding.
On-Call Availability
On-call is not required initially.
There is a possibility that on-call support may be needed in the future, depending on project needs.
Remuneration
Compensation in US dollars, contractor basis.
