Jack Innis
@jackinnis
Environmental engineer focused on soil, hydrogeology, and sustainable water infrastructure through practical innovation.
What I'm looking for
I’m an Environmental Engineering graduate with hands-on experience performing soil analysis and hydrogeology, alongside conducting laboratory work. I’m confident, caring, and easy-going, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to work well under pressure while keeping the “big picture” of how my work fits into a project.
In agroforestry-focused work, I supported restoring degraded soil using natural fertilizers, composting, and biomass reuse, and I tested agro-forest systems with biochar to enrich soil and improve plant health. I also bring a results-driven, technical approach from engineering work—analyzing energy-use data to reduce energy consumption, producing technical reports, and contributing to business development—along with practical field experience in reforestation, safety protocols, and land management.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Agroforestry Support
Mollesnejta Institute for Agroforestry
Jun 2025 - Aug 2025 (2 months)
Supported degraded-soil restoration through experiments using natural fertilizers, composting, and biomass reuse. Tested biochar-amended agro-forest systems and helped implement anti-fire measures by clearing debris and planting fire-resistant opuntia cactus for improved farmland resilience.
Tree Planter / Brush Thinner
Heritage Reforestation Inc.
May 2021 - Aug 2024 (3 years 3 months)
Completed reforestation contracts in demanding field conditions while managing day-to-day land allocation and safe work practices. Communicated with supervisors to help meet tree production quotas and trained on planting procedures to pass inspections.
Engineering Intern
Kelteq
Feb 2024 - Apr 2024 (2 months)
Analyzed Eniscope data to develop recommendations for reducing energy usage for business clients. Generated leads, produced technical reports, and influenced clients (e.g., Antenna America) to adopt energy-saving temperature probe solutions that reduced energy costs.
Student Engineer
General Dynamics
Jun 2019 - Aug 2019 (2 months)
Assisted hardware testing by measuring and recording voltage and resistance across circuits to support efficiency analysis. Tested and repaired ammunition selection units using spare parts, ordered cable components, and performed shake tests to validate approved units for real-world use.
