Banita Bahu
@banitabahu
I lead visual arts education through ceramics, sculpture, painting, and interdisciplinary creative workshops.
What I'm looking for
I lead the Visual Arts department at The OASIS in Dehradun, teaching students in grades 7–12 across IGCSE, ICSE, and ISC curricula. I guide students through drawing, painting, clay sculpture, pottery, portraiture, mould casting, and exhibition preparation.
Previously, I spent over a decade as a teaching assistant in ceramics at The Doon School, where I introduced clay preparation, pinching, coiling, slab work, throwing, glazing, firing, murals, and ceramic sculpture. I helped students turn freehand designs into three-dimensional work and prepared them for annual art installations and exhibitions.
I bring ceramics training from Visva-Bharati Central University and a foundation in sculpture from the Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu. My practice spans ceramic sculpture, mural and tile design, oil and acrylic painting, drawing, portrait study, charcoal, wood, stone, and cement.
I enjoy making art an integrated learning experience through workshops with history, biology, and English departments, including Harappan seals, Indo-Persian architecture, pollinators, and hand-drawn flipbooks. I also use clay and colour-based art therapy sessions to help students and teachers relax, express themselves, and build positive energy.
