The Role:

Cerebral is seeking a mission-driven, entrepreneurial Director of Behavioral Care to manage and evolve existing Behavioral Health program and operations, lead a large team of therapists and care counselors, as well as oversee our Therapy supervision program. Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Director of Behavioral Care will manage a 300+ team of Therapists and Care Counselors, and evolve current systems and processes to scale a world-class team of Therapists and Care Counselors to provide accessible and high quality long-term mental health care to our clients. As our Director of Behavioral Care, you will serve as a key clinical expert, working with cross-functional teams as well as external collaborators.

This is a W2 salaried position, working part time hours.

Who you are:

  • You are a Board-certified Psychologist with 5+ years of experience both as a practicing clinician as well as operating in a fast-paced, high growth business or telehealth startup
  • You have 3+ years of experience working in Clinical Leadership roles in technology environments
  • You are a thought leader with demonstrated passion for reimagining how behavioral health quality is defined, measured, and operationalized and have experience merging technology and healthcare
  • You are a collaborator who has worked with cross-functional teams, such as product, operations, data, and go-to-market teams, to infuse clinical strategy across the organization
  • You have experience managing clinicians, with an emphasis on performance management and clinical outcomes
  • You are innovative with an entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to thrive in a fast paced startup environment
  • You have experience leading or contributing to process improvement and innovation programs
  • You’re effective at communicating clinical information to both clinical and non-clinical team members
  • Patient centric, self-motivated, energetic, vigilant, comfortable working remotely
  • Comfortable understanding of clinical quality and outcomes data and metrics, as well as operational efficiency metrics
  • You are passionate about improving access to long term, high-quality mental health care.
  • You are tech savvy and experienced or interested in telemedicine / health technology
  • You are business-minded and can see both sides of the coin when it comes to healthcare and strategy
  • You are trained in multiple evidence-based therapies and regularly use measurement-based care practices
  • You have a passion for clinical quality and the use of data/evidence-based treatments to improve treatment outcomes
  • You are data-driven, analytical, and operational in nature
  • You are an exceptional communicator and leader, with experience developing and managing relationships with providers and other cross-functional stakeholders

How your skills and passion will come to life at Cerebral:

  • Be deeply involved in and a champion of care delivery and clinical quality of our behavioral health program
  • Ensure quality of clinical operations by maintaining, evolving, and enforcing standard operating procedures and internal processes in conjunction with our Medical Director of Clinical Quality & Safety and the Chief Medical Officer
  • Lead development and iteration of documentation with evidence-based references and step-by-step protocols for all behavioral health services provided
  • Create continuing trainings program to support any new treatment protocols and consistency of high-quality service
  • Serve as a clinical liaison with cross functional teams to ensure all projects and initiatives are developed with a clinical lens
  • Oversee direct client care and work with Therapists, care counselors, and/or complex case managers on case consultations or clinical support as needed
  • Provide direct management to our Therapists and Care Counselors (team of 300+)
  • Oversee Cerebral’s behavioral health onboarding, ongoing training, and clinician engagement program
  • Contribute to strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the Behavioral Health team
  • Maintain appropriate policies, procedures, and clinical practice guidelines to support top quality behavioral health services
  • Support clinician interviews and serve on the Credentialing Committee to hire new Therapists to Cerebral’s Medical Group
  • Determine if removal of a clinician is appropriate based on the code of conduct
  • Partner with Support, Compliance, Ops and Product, and Engineering teams to ensure the delivery of our mental health services are optimized, and to support the development and launch of technology improvements and/or new service lines/treatment options
  • Provide input on how mental health clinicians can utilize digital tools to deliver high quality care in a compliant manner
  • Create and nurture a culture of professionalism, collegial collaboration and continuous improvement of processes. Responsible for team growth and development, recruitment and retention, reward and recognition and ongoing evaluation
  • Prefer you to maintain a small caseload to stay up-to-date on the clinician experience (EMR, video platform, etc.) to share ideas and input to our Product and Ops teams for continuous improvement

The national base salary range (OR the national hourly range for nonexempt positions) offered for this position is outlined below. Cerebral is committed to equal pay for equal work; however, business reasons may dictate variations in pay that are attributed to objective factors, such as a candidate's qualifications and years of experience. Total compensation includes base salary and may include an annual performance bonus and equity/stock options.

National Base Salary Range:$135,000—$150,000 USD
