QuinceQU

General Manager

Quince is an affordable luxury brand that sells high-quality fashion and home goods at radically low prices— direct from the factory floor. The company has pioneered a manufacturer-to-consumer (M2C) retail model in which factories produce inventory on a near just-in-time basis and ship their goods directly to consumers' doorsteps, cutting out financial and environmental waste.

OUR STORY

Quince was started to challenge the existing idea that nice things should cost a lot. Our mission was simple: create an item of equal or greater quality than the leading luxury brands and sell them at a much lower price.

OUR VALUES

EVERYONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO AFFORD NICE THINGS. Quality shouldn’t be a luxury. We’re proud of our mission to bring the world’s highest quality goods to people at affordable prices.
QUALITY IS MORE THAN MATERIALS. True quality is a combination of premium materials and high production standards.
WE FOCUS ON THE ESSENTIALS. From the perfect crewneck sweater to hotel quality sheets, we're all about high quality essentials that bring enjoyment to daily life.
WE’RE INNOVATING TO MAKE UNREAL PRICES A REALITY. Our uniquely developed factory-direct model lets us offer exceptionally high quality goods for much lower prices than our competitors.
ALWAYS A BETTER DEAL. We believe in real price transparency, for both our customers and factory partners. This way, everyone gets a better deal.
FAIR FACTORIES. We are committed to working with factories that meet the global standards for workplace safety and wage fairness.

OUR TEAM AND SUCCESS

Quince is a retail and technology company co-founded by a team that has extensive experience in retail, technology and building early stage companies. You’ll work with a team of world-class talent from Stanford GSB, Wish.com, D.E. Shaw, Stitch Fix, Urban Outfitters, Wayfair, McKinsey, Nike etc.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, problem-solver and successful in combining technology and data into best-in-class outcomes. The candidate is energized by solving complex business problems and consistently effective in making high-judgment decisions at rapid pace amidst the frequent ambiguity that comes with charting a course of action with no precedent. Moreover, the ideal candidate is energized by an environment where strategy, innovation and decision-making are intentionally distributed, where candor, speed and data are highly valued and colleagues at all levels hold each other to unusually high standards on behalf of Quince customers.
We’re hiring General Managers to take ownership of 2 to 4 of Quince’s categories (ie., sweaters, bedding, outerwear, jewelry and others). Each General Manager will work cross-functionally to achieve top-line and profitability growth for their given categories. This role will require the ability to collaborate, influence, and secure joint support / buy-in across a range of partners in merchandising, sourcing, forecasting, inventory planning and marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the strategic plan to achieve category revenue and contribution margin targets, with the objective of scaling growth across both dimensions significantly.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across merchandising, sourcing, marketing, inventory and logistics functions to build and optimize day-to-day operations; this may include the development of various frameworks and processes to enhance speed, cross-functional collaboration, and overall category performance.
  • Identify and work to unblock bottlenecks and opportunities requisite to drive step changes in category growth. The General Manager should be willing and accountable for rolling up his or her sleeves to accomplish these tasks when resourcing is needed.
  • Leverage a detailed understanding of marketing performance metrics to build category- specific growth marketing plans driving accretive return on ad spend
  • Report on weekly performance goals across key metrics.
  • Stay up-to-date on all relevant market knowledge and competitive trends.
  • Build, implement, and maintain budgetary and resource allocation plans.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration preferred.
  • At least two years in a PL ownership role - preferably as a GM, category manager, or founder at a direct-to-consumer eCommerce consumer business (managing at least $25-50 million in revenue).
  • Experience in operating or partnering with core retail functions, including merchandising, sourcing, inventory planning, fulfillment and logistics.
  • Deep understanding of performance marketing channels and funnel metrics (e.g., paid social, search), preferably with in-house teams versus agency partners.
  • Ability and willingness to operate on a strategic and tactical level, taking on executional day-to-day tasks when needed to drive the business.
  • Excellent communication, cross-functional collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Ability to operate and drive data-oriented action in ambiguity without significant guidance.
Quince seeks to build high-performing teams of people from various experiences and backgrounds who can collectively push our company into new realms. We seek a diverse pool of applicants and consider all qualified candidates regardless of race, ancestry, color, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, citizenship, disability, Veteran status, marital status, or any other protected status. If you have a special need or disability that requires accommodation, please let us know.

Quince started when we brought our work home. We built careers working for high-end brands, but investing in luxury clothing, jewelry and home goods for ourselves was a rare treat. So, we built our own brand—committed to making exceptionally high-quality essentials at a price within reach. Because everyone deserves to fill their life with the finer things.

OUR VALUES

  • QUALITY: Quality shouldn’t be a luxury. We choose premium materials and designs that stand the test of time. Our products feel nicer and last longer, on purpose.

  • SUSTAINABILITY: Sustainability is built into everything we do. Whenever possible, we choose organic materials, environmentally conscientious packaging and ethical business practices.

  • AFFORDABILITY: Everyone should have access to nice things. We keep prices low by using a factory-direct model that cuts out the supply-chain middlemen and reduces costs.

A Vision For Sustainability, Accountability, Transparency & Amazing Value.

Affordable products shouldn't come at the cost of worker exploitation. We only partner with factories who meet or exceed global guidelines for workplace safety and equitable wages.

The difference is clear

We value transparency. We’re open and honest about the materials in our products, how they’re manufactured and how they’re priced. Honesty is always our policy.

We started Quince to challenge the existing idea that nice things have to cost a lot. Our mission was simple—create products of equal or greater quality than the leading luxury brands at a much lower price. Because we believe quality should never be a luxury.

How we keep prices low

We never cut corners when it comes to quality, sustainability or fair manufacturing practices. Our prices stay low because we avoid the expenses of the traditional supply chain, including sourcing agents, warehousing, wholesaling, distribution and storefront retail.
