Sr. Data Engineer

Reports To

Manager, Data Engineering

The Job 

We’re looking for a Data Engineer who will have the opportunity to work with data at the intersection of data centers operations, atmospheric data, ASIC telemetry, blockchain networks, and cryptocurrency markets. The Data Engineer will be responsible for the development and implementation of business intelligence while collaborating with a team of data engineers and scientists. They will work with various teams in the company to deliver data, analytics, and insights into our core business, which will influence business strategy that affects the company's bottom line. As a Sr. Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and building data solutions and peer review other team members work.

Responsibilities:   

  • Create and maintain secure high quality data pipelines, ETL, and data lakes used across the organization.
  • Partner with stakeholders (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Data Center Services) on data, report, or analytics requirements.
  • Ability to complete end-to-end development of reports/dashboards used by different teams across the company using BI tools such as Tableau and Databricks Dashboards.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis to support business decision-making and strategic initiatives.
  • Proactively perform data exploration and analytical deep dives to discover insights for future opportunities.
  • Provide feedback to peer’s work, demonstrating self-sufficiency while creating and socializing innovative data centric solutions.
  • Either are already or are eager to become an expert in the blockchain and cryptocurrency landscape and will understand how speculators, traders, digital asset exchanges, blockchain money services businesses, miners, and financial institutions operate.
  • Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers/ teammates and leaders across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience required.
  • Experience with Databricks, PySpark and related technologies.
  • Experience in one of the languages – Python, Scala.
  • Must possess SQL skills and experience in analyzing large-scale datasets.
  • Experience in getting requirements from business stakeholders and offer creative solutions for reports and metrics.
  • Experienced in building visually appealing reports with Tableau.
  • Experience with Github, Jira, Confluence and similar technologies.
  • Experience with data modeling, semantic layer is a preferred.

Work Environment   

This job is remote, based in the United States. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.  

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Minimal travel may be required.
