Contract: 6-month contract initially, with an extension highly likely. Self-employed contractor. Responsible for own taxes. No benefits.

Pay Rate: $4.50 USD per hour

The Role:

Here at Twinkl we are currently looking for content writers and editors to join our Twinkl Egypt team and create exceptional resources in Arabic to help teachers teach Arabic matching the current Egyptian curriculum. We are looking for creative, innovative, cooperative content writers/editors to join our team and collaborate with making perfect Arabic content on our website.

You will be helping to create Arabic resources specifically designed to follow the new Egyptian curriculum. As a team we are looking to add new creative ideas and engaging resources to improve our Arabic content on the website.

​​You will create innovative printable and digital Arabic teaching resources that address key standards in Arabic:

NB: Please let us know in your application form which one of the following areas you would like to work with - please pick only one:

  • Arabic teacher (EYFS + Grade 1)
  • Arabic teacher (Grade 1 to Grade 3)
  • Arabic teacher (Grade 4 and 5)
  • Arabic teacher (Grade 6)

In your role as a writer/editor, you will focus on quality when writing content and help ensure that the content of our resources the writers have written is accurate and well written, helping us to deliver high-quality Arabic Grammar materials to children around the world.

As part of the Twinkl Egypt team, you will communicate with other team members and attend weekly meetings to stay updated on the progress of our work. You will be part of an agile team that communicates via email, messaging, and video meetings. To fulfil this role, you will need to provide your own technology and have reliable high-speed internet access.

The content you write will be turned into professional Twinkl products by our highly skilled design and illustration team.

How you’ll spend your day:

  • Creating Arabic resources following the product scheme, reviewing and editing content that our Writers have created to ensure it is accurate, well written, suitable for the target year group and providing the correct level of challenge and support.
  • Meeting, working and communicating with other team members in a scrum team to achieve sprint goals.
  • ​​Researching Arabic educational resource trends and ideas to make sure your assigned resources will be instant hits with our millions of global members.

In this role, you will learn:

  • How to create exceptional Arabic content following the guidelines of Modern Arabic standard (Fos-ha).
  • How to adapt new ideas to fit a new market.
  • How a scrum team works together across different markets and countries.

You’ll work with:

  • Menna Abukhadra (Egypt Country Manager) – Menna Abukhadra leads the Twinkl Egypt team and is responsible for all Arabic resources related to Arabic Grammar, Arabic Handwriting and Arabic eBooks on the Twinkl website. Menna has been working at Twinkl for five years. She started as a Middle East Content Executive, then moved her focus to the Egyptian Market until she became Twinkl Country Manager for Egypt. She has an educational career background as she is a professor at Cairo University and a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Cambridge. She has been working in the educational sector in Egypt for 18 years before moving to Twinkl. She speaks 3 languages and she has written 3 publications about education in the Middle East.
  • Other Twinkl Egypt team members – the team consists of a production team leader, other Content Writers/ Editors, designers, illustrators and marketing specialists. We all work together in harmony towards one message, which is providing the highest quality Arabic content to help all those who teach in Arabic in Egypt, the Middle East, and the rest of the world!

Requirements

We are especially interested in anyone who meets a combination of the following requirements:

  • Have an excellent understanding of Arabic and excellent spelling and punctuation skills in Arabic.
  • Qualifications: Hold a bachelor's university degree in education.
  • Qualifications: English language from accredited institutions in Egypt.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ Egyptian public classroom experience, classroom teaching within the last 12 months in one of the earlier mentioned areas in Arabic in Egypt.
  • Be creative, accurate, always bring new ideas to the table and be able to communicate in English.
