About Toptal

Toptal is a global network of top talent in business, design, and technology that enables companies to scale their teams, on-demand. With $200+ million in annual revenue and team members based around the globe, Toptal is the world’s largest fully remote workforce.
We take the best elements of virtual teams and combine them with a support structure that encourages innovation, social interaction, and fun. We see no borders, move at a fast pace, and are never afraid to break the mold.

Job Summary:

As the Operations Director for a new venture within Toptal, you will work directly with the General Manager to drive the growth, structure, and operational excellence of a new business unit.
You will join a small, hands-on team building from the ground up. Your mindset should be that of a builder, not just an operator. You are someone who is willing to get into the details and solve problems from first principles. You will tackle complex challenges with creativity and precision, applying the analytical rigor of a management consultant while staying deeply involved in execution.
You will design the frameworks, processes, and playbooks that scale our operations and growth engine. At the same time, you will stay close to the work by executing, analyzing, and iterating quickly. This role is ideal for someone who wants to shape strategy and build the systems that bring it to life.
This is a remote position. We do not offer visa sponsorship or assistance. Resumes and communication must be submitted in English.

Responsibilities:

The following information is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or required skills.
  • Partner with the General Manager to drive strategic and operational initiatives across this new business unit.
  • Lead day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment between growth, customer success, and agent performance.
  • Customers (Demand): Oversee lead generation, screen and interview potential customers, onboard customers, and match them with agents.
  • Agents (Supply): Manage the agent network, including recruitment, training, onboarding, and ongoing evaluation.
  • Build and evolve the service model for customers and agents, incorporating data and feedback to improve performance.
  • Develop business collateral, case studies, and success stories that highlight customers’ impact and value proposition.
  • Conduct performance analysis across customers, agents, and operational processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Build and scale a high-performing operations team as the business grows.
  • Design and refine processes that drive efficiency, accountability, and scalability across the organization.
  • Create presentations, memos, and strategy documents that communicate insights and recommendations clearly.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product, and partnerships teams to mobilize initiatives and ensure executional excellence.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 4–8 years of professional experience, ideally in management consulting (MBB or top-tier), strategy, or operations roles.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a startup or early-stage environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; highly proficient with spreadsheets and data analysis.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills — capable of structuring complex ideas and telling data-driven stories.
  • Proven experience managing clients and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams, ensuring alignment and timely execution in dynamic environments.
  • Based in Latin America, with the ability to travel monthly to the US or Mexico.
  • A builder’s mindset — resourceful, self-driven, and energized by solving hard problems with limited structure.
  • Ability to travel monthly to the US or Mexico for in-person sessions.
  • Preferred background in social media management, digital marketing, or partnerships, with experience or familiarity with digital content platforms (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing company and handle a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a diverse array of contacts.
  • You must be a world-class individual contributor to thrive at Toptal. You will not be here just to tell other people what to do.
