The story of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is one of profound faith, resilience, and a journey that spans nearly two centuries. It began in the spring of 1820 in upstate New York, when a young farm boy named Joseph Smith sought spiritual guidance in a grove of trees. His subsequent visions and the translation of ancient records led to the formal organization of the Church on April 6, 1830, in a small log home in Fayette, New York. From these humble beginnings with just six original members, the movement quickly grew, though it faced intense persecution that forced the early Saints to move from New York to Ohio, Missouri, and eventually Nauvoo, Illinois.

Following the death of Joseph Smith in 1844, the majority of the members followed Brigham Young on a historic exodus across the American plains to the Salt Lake Valley. This arduous trek, undertaken by thousands of pioneers in wagons and handcarts, established a new headquarters in the Rocky Mountains where the Church could flourish. Over the ensuing decades, what was once a regional pioneer settlement transformed into a global faith. Today, the Church operates as a worldwide organization with millions of members, emphasizing the importance of family, service, and following the teachings of Jesus Christ. Its growth is supported by a massive technological and administrative infrastructure that connects congregations across the globe, continuing the narrative of restoration and expansion that began in that quiet grove.
