About Smith.ai

Smith.ai is reinventing how businesses communicate with their callers. Our AI-powered receptionist, customer engagement, and communication solutions help SMBs deliver fast, intelligent, and delightful call experiences—without the overhead of traditional staffing. We are scaling rapidly and seeking a Senior Product Marketing Manager who is equal parts strategist, storyteller, and execution engine.

This is a high-impact, high-ownership role for someone who moves fast, loves testing and iterating, and wants to shape the narrative and lifecycle strategy for a company experiencing meaningful growth.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Marketing Manager who brings exceptional intelligence, curiosity, and speed. Someone who thinks deeply, writes brilliantly, and executes relentlessly. You will own the Smith.ai website and the entire lifecycle strategy, while partnering closely with Product, Growth, Sales, and Design to bring new products, features, and positioning to market.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in early- or growth-stage environments—where clarity is earned, not given; where testing beats conjecture; and where crisp storytelling paired with rapid execution can move the business forward.

What you’ll do

  • Positioning, Messaging & Narrative: Contribute to and shape the company’s overarching narrative strategy; translate it into clear, compelling, differentiated messaging across the website and all customer touchpoints. Experiment—A/B tests, landing page tests, and CTA optimizations—to drive continuous improvement.
  • Go-to-Market (GTM) Strategy & Product Launches: Lead and execute product launch strategies, partnering closely with Product, Marketing, Customer Success, and Sales to ensure clear positioning, adoption, and prospect + customer understanding. Create, own, and manage the launch checklist—you are the launch quarterback, and you are responsible for its success.
  • Lifecycle & Retention Marketing: Build, own, and optimize end-to-end lifecycle programs for prospects and customers across email, in-app, and other channels—from onboarding to activation to retention. Partner closely with Product and Growth to enable lifecycle tooling and to develop analytical frameworks to measure activation, retention, churn, and campaign effectiveness.
  • Customer Insights & Competitive Intelligence: Deeply understand the customer. Continuously listen to Gong calls and get close with sales to understand customer objections, successful talk tracks, and competitive dynamics—turning insights into content and messaging improvements. Conduct customer research to uncover insights that shape strategy. Monitor competitors, market shifts, and category trends to identify opportunities for positioning and differentiation.
  • Sales Enablement: Sales is one of your customers. And the job is not to just deliver training/assets...it's to ensure the team actually knows how to do the things we need them to do. You're not done until they've learned it...no matter how many different ways you try. Create and maintain resources that you’ve identified as high impact with the sales org to ensure Sales is equipped with compelling value propositions, competitive positioning, and product knowledge to close deals more effectively.
  • Content Development: Create high-impact written content including landing pages, case studies, email copy, in-app messaging, and internal communications. Partner with cross functional teams like marketing by building strong creative briefs to develop customer and prospect-facing content like high-quality video scripts and ad copy that drive activation and conversion. Produce targeted content tailored specifically for lifecycle improvements and audience segments.

What Sets You Apart

  • Exceptionally intelligent, fast thinker, intellectually curious, and a rapid learner.
  • Relentlessly execution-oriented—always moving fast, shipping quickly, and iterating.
  • World-class writer and storyteller with a portfolio that includes website copy, landing pages, pricing pages, battlecards, email sequences, and microcopy.
  • 3+ years experience in product marketing at early- or growth-stage startups.
  • Proven experience building successful lifecycle programs from onboarding to retention.
  • B2B sales enablement experience, including trainings, assets, positioning, and tools
  • Track record of executing product launches and rolling out new features or capabilities to market.
  • Familiarity with modern lifecycle and messaging tools (HubSpot, Iterable, Customer.io, Appcues, Pendo, or similar).

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience marketing to SMB audiences.
  • Strong design sensibility and ability to collaborate closely with creative teams.
  • Experience conducting customer research, surveys, and message testing.
  • A data-driven approach with a history of improving conversion, activation, or retention metrics.

What Success Looks Like

  • You establish Smith.ai’s voice and narrative across the website with clarity, differentiation, and persuasive storytelling.
  • You significantly increase activation, graduation, and retention rates for Unassigned Accounts through content, lifecycle, and in-app messaging.
  • You bring more rigor, testing, and experimentation to our website and marketing content.
  • You arm Sales with tools that meaningfully improve win rates and objection handling.
  • You lead efficient and effective product launches that educate, excite, and convert.
  • You build a lifecycle engine that scales with the rapid growth of the business—especially as our Unassigned segment expands dramatically.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Fully remote team—you can work from anywhere in the U.S.
  • Competitive compensation ($125k–$150K depending on experience), plus equity.
  • Robust benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, FSA, and unlimited FTO.
  • Work with passionate, kind, and driven teammates across the globe.
  • A mission that matters: Helping small businesses succeed in an AI-powered world.

We’re committed to building a team that reflects the world we live in. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and walks of life. Discrimination has no place here.

View company profile

At the heart of Smith.ai is a culture deeply rooted in empowering small and medium-sized businesses to thrive in a competitive landscape. The company was born from a genuine understanding of the daily struggles faced by entrepreneurs. Co-founder Justin Maxwell witnessed firsthand how the administrative overhead of running a small business consumed his mother's schedule, leaving little time for the actual work she was passionate about. Similarly, co-founder Aaron Lee, during his time as CTO of The Home Depot, engaged with thousands of home service professionals and consistently heard their frustration with the challenge of balancing excellent service delivery with the constant demands of customer communication. This shared empathy for the plight of small business owners is the bedrock of Smith.ai's mission.

This mission is brought to life by a team that embodies a spirit of innovation and a commitment to excellence. With leadership hailing from tech giants like Google, Apple, Intuit, and Upwork, Smith.ai possesses a unique and powerful blend of expertise in serving the small and medium business sector. The company's culture is one of continuous improvement and direct response to customer needs. Unlike services that rely on third-party technology, Smith.ai builds and develops its own proprietary software in-house. This allows for a remarkable level of agility and customization, ensuring that when a client has a specific need, the team can directly address it. Being a fully remote company from its inception, Smith.ai fosters a global and inclusive work environment, with its team members spanning from North America to New Zealand. This remote-first DNA is not just a logistical choice but a reflection of the company's belief in empowering individuals and providing opportunities for growth, regardless of location. The team is united by a passion for helping businesses succeed, one conversation at a time.
