Senior Business Intelligence Specialist - Data & Analytics (Relocation to Spain)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist to join a global financial technology team in Málaga, Spain. Acting as a technical lead or architect, you will design and implement advanced BI and data solutions that support business decision-making at scale.

This role involves building ETL processes, developing BI models, working with data lakes, and optimising SQL queries. You will also guide teams in best practices for BI development, data validation, and delivery pipelines, making a significant impact on strategic data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of ETL processes for large-scale data environments.
• Develop and optimise Power BI solutions and other BI models for business stakeholders.
• Build and manage data lakes, ensuring data quality, consistency, and scalability.
• Design, validate, and maintain relational and non-relational database systems.
• Implement unit testing and adapt code for quality checks (Sonar, Fortify, etc.).
• Manage and optimise CI/CD delivery pipelines for data solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior team members.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align BI solutions with business needs.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

• 5+ years of experience with ETL development.
• 5+ years of experience with BI tools, especially Power BI.
• 3+ years of experience with Spark and Python.
• Strong expertise in SQL and data validation techniques.
• Proven experience designing data models and working with data lakes.
• Deep knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience with unit testing and adapting code for static analysis.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to guide technical teams.
• Excellent communication skills in English.

Preferred:

• Experience with control model implementation.
• Familiarity with other BI tools (Tableau, QlikView, MicroStrategy, etc.).
• Experience with consuming and defining APIs.

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to relocate to Málaga, Spain.
