We are looking to hire a Take Off Specialist for our HVAC and Plumbing Divisions:
HVAC Takeoff Specialist
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Takeoff Specialist to support our estimating team by reviewing construction plans, performing accurate material and labor quantity takeoffs, and assisting in bid preparation.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of HVAC systems, exceptional attention to detail, and experience with digital takeoff tools. This role helps ensure competitive bids and accurate project costing.
Key Responsibilities
- Review HVAC plans, mechanical drawings, and specifications
- Perform detailed HVAC quantity takeoffs (ductwork, piping, equipment, vents, diffusers, fittings, insulation, etc.)
- Use estimating/takeoff software to measure, quantify, and document material requirements
- Prepare takeoff spreadsheets and submit results to the estimating team
- Coordinate with estimators to clarify project scope and design intent
- Maintain project files, revisions, and takeoff documentation
- Assist in vendor quotation requests and pricing updates
- Meet deadlines and ensure extremely high accuracy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in HVAC estimating or drafting
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, materials, and installation standards
- Proficiency in blueprint reading (mechanical sheets, schedules, and specs)
- Experience with digital takeoff software (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Trimble, etc.)
- Excellent organization, math, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Experience
- Commercial and residential HVAC projects
- Familiarity with US construction standards
- Exposure to design-build mechanical environments
Plumbing Take Off Specialist
About the Role
We are hiring a Plumbing Takeoff Specialist to support pre-construction and estimating by providing detailed plumbing material takeoffs. You will evaluate plumbing and site utility plans, quantify materials, and assist with bid documentation.
This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent plan interpretation skills, and accuracy in preparing takeoff data.
Key Responsibilities
- Review plumbing drawings, riser diagrams, and project specifications
- Perform complete plumbing material takeoffs including:
- Piping and fittings (PEX, copper, PVC, cast iron, etc.)
- Valves, fixtures, traps, hangers, supports
- Domestic water systems, sanitary, storm, vent systems
- Use digital takeoff tools to prepare accurate quantity sheets
- Support estimators with bid summaries and vendor outreach
- Track plan revisions and maintain organized takeoff records
- Communicate with team regarding drawing discrepancies or clarifications
- Ensure timely completion of takeoffs for bidding deadlines
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in plumbing estimating, drafting, or field experience
- Strong understanding of plumbing systems and materials
- Proficiency in reading plumbing plans and specifications
- Software experience with takeoff tools (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Trimble, etc.)
- Strong analytical and documentation skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple deadlines
Preferred Experience
- Waste, vent, and domestic water system estimating
- Fire sprinkler and gas line takeoffs (plus but not required)
- Knowledge of US codes and project submittal requirements

- Experience in MEP trades
- Familiarity with estimating databases/assemblies
