About Police Digital Service
The Strategic and Change Communications Advisor is responsible for leading communications strategy, planning, and delivery for an assigned portfolio, working with Events and Brand Engagement colleagues to reach internal and external audiences. As an extension of the function, project, programme, or service team(s), the role provides dedicated communications and engagement expertise to inform, influence, advise, and engage stakeholders, support business readiness for change, and deliver strategic and tactical communications objectives

Key Responsibilities
Communications
- Delivery of communication planning, evaluation, and assets for assigned programmes or services including developing copy and creating digital content inline with the OASIS model.
- Work with colleagues and partners to create content.
- Support and deliver communication plans.
- Prepare slide decks and event briefings for colleagues presenting at events.
- Contribute to key corporate comms products, including the Annual Report.
- Inform functionality and content for PDS website.
- Coordinate the responses to consultations and reactive responses/positions relevant to programme/service area.
- Maintain processes to ensure GDPR compliance at all times.
- Ensure that all content is security marked and published appropriately for its classification and intended audience.
- Contribute towards development and delivery of PDS Communications plans.
- Provide expertise to inform, influence, advise and engage stakeholders, and support business readiness for change.
- Develop and maintain a Stakeholder Map(s) for assigned programme.
- Work with stakeholder relationship managers to ensure that correct and consistent messaging is shared externally.
- Ensure that all content is correctly security marked and is published and shared appropriately for its classification and intended audience.
- Able to develop and contribute towards and support delivery of PDS Communications Plans.
Stakeholder management
- Develop and maintain a Stakeholder Map for assigned area and feed into a central map.
- Maintain stakeholder contact database and list(s) handling personal data in line with GDPR.
- Develop a Stakeholder Plan outlining the approach to communications and engagement.
- Work with stakeholder relationship managers, including the Business Engagement Managers and Project Change Leads to ensure that correct and consistent messaging is shared externally
- Build and develop good working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, to become recognised as a reliable, and trusted advisor.
- Manage information flow between assigned business areas and the Events and Brand Engagement function, ensuring that requirements are understood, and business needs are met.
- Work collaboratively as part of a busy team, providing support to others and helping to ensure that the team delivers a high quality, professional service.
- Provide support to Strategic and Change Communications Manager, and the wider function, deputising at meetings as required.
Brand management
- Act as brand champion, supporting the wider Events and Brand Engagement function.
- Promote brand compliance providing tools and guidance to ensure that corporate identity and strategic narrative is communicated consistently across all channels and platforms.
- Work with senior colleagues to advise on the approach to crisis communications, making recommendations to mitigate risk and protect brand reputation.
Evaluation and reporting
- Support the development and maintenance of programme and service information on internal and external communications channels, working with the strategic portfolio lead(s) and line manager to determine reporting criteria.
- Provide input into the weekly Sit Rep reports for the wider function, ensuring that all comms and engagement activity, metrics, and insights relating to portfolio area are included.
- Monitor performance of comms and engagement activity, identifying trends in content, topics, and channel use, making recommendations to increase reach and engagement.
What you need to succeed in the role
- 3 years' experience delivering communications in a complex organisation.
- Ideally 1 years' experience operating in a change or project-based environment, in tech, law enforcement or the public sector.
- Experience of remote team working and remote IT systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- In-depth understanding of B2B comms channels and platforms.
- Strong content creation skills with an understanding of best practice.
