What you'll do:

As a Platform Engineer at Open, you’ll join a highly talented and performing team to continue the evolution of our Open Insurance platform.

Reporting to the GM of Engineering the key success of this role are:

• Work with the team to build incredible software for a marketing leading product

• Build your technology skills

• Always be open to new ideas and be willing to innovate

• Become a self motivated and managed team member

• Working with the GM of Engineering (your direct reporting line) to ensure progress is made on the product and technology road map

• You’ll work alongside the Scrum Master to address and resolve priority changes, scope changes, production issues and delivery delays

• You’ll work closely with with your team of fellow Engineers and QA’s to ensure that all business / product requirements, solution / product designs and impacts are properly understood

• Will work closely with the Product Managers to ensure that their business / product requirements are clearly understood and that the solutions will meet their expectations

• Most importantly the GM of Engineering is there to provide support and to set you up for success in the role, empower you to make decisions and have a positive impact on the team and the wider business

• Finally, you’ll also have the opportunity to learn the insurance industry and understand the key differentiators that makes Open a key player in our space and why we will be successful on our mission. We are looking for strong collaborators, great problem solvers and most importantly people with a learning mindset. If you haven’t got experience using Python, that’s ok! We can invest time in getting you up to speed

Requirements

• A successful track record of software development

• Confidence in your ability to solve complex problems in a practical way

• Confidence in your ability to learn and evolve your technology skills

• Confidence in communicating status updates, especially when you are stuck or need help

Role location

Our offices are located in Sydney, Melbourne, the Sunshine Coast, Auckland and Queenstown and this role is flexible around these locations.
