This role provides a unique opportunity to work on advanced 3D and CAD algorithms that drive innovation in digital manufacturing and design. As a Software Engineer II - 3D/CAD, you will develop and implement algorithms for 3D geometry generation, mesh processing, and CAD workflows that interface with modern manufacturing systems. You will collaborate across engineering, research, and AI teams to deliver high-performance solutions, integrating AI models and ensuring software reliability and quality. This position offers a hands-on environment where your work directly impacts product capabilities, customer satisfaction, and the adoption of next-generation digital tools.
Accountabilities
- Develop and implement advanced 3D algorithms for geometry creation, mesh processing, and computational design.
- Build CAD tools that interface with 3D printers, robotic systems, and subtractive manufacturing equipment.
- Integrate AI models into CAD workflows to enhance automation, efficiency, and precision.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver practical solutions to real-world 3D and CAD challenges.
- Ensure all solutions are reliable, well-tested, and performant, delivering a high-quality user experience.
- Research and translate new techniques from academic papers or industry research into production-ready code.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on 3D algorithms, graphics, or computational geometry.
- Strong understanding of 3D concepts, mesh processing, and geometry algorithms.
- Proficiency in one or more geometry processing or visualization libraries.
- Experience building CAD/CAM or geometry inspection systems.
- Familiarity with Typescript, NodeJS, Three.js/WebGL, WASM/Emscripten, and C++.
- Effective team player with strong initiative and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs, identify risks, and solve complex technical problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with 3D modeling or digital design tools, especially in a manufacturing context.
- Experience integrating software with machines or devices.
- Knowledge of advanced visualization in cloud or distributed environments.
- Familiarity with GPU programming (HLSL, GLSL, DirectX, Vulkan, Metal, CUDA).
