We are seeking experienced Senior Database Administrators to manage, optimize, and secure enterprise-scale database environments. This role involves hands-on administration of SQL Server, Oracle, and other relational databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance across critical systems. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, security-conscious environment, working closely with developers, engineers, and project teams to implement robust database architectures. You will support cloud and on-premise solutions, develop automation tools, and ensure disaster recovery readiness. Accountabilities:
- Administer, configure, and maintain SQL Server, Oracle, and other database environments, including clustered and standalone systems.
- Perform daily monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to optimize database operations.
- Apply patches, handle version upgrades, and manage database migrations.
- Support schema design, indexing, storage strategies, and query optimization.
- Develop automation scripts, monitoring tools, and processes for efficient database management.
- Design, implement, and test backup/recovery procedures and high-availability solutions.
- Implement database security controls and maintain compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, developers, and project teams, and maintain comprehensive documentation of database architectures and procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in database administration for enterprise-scale systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency with SQL Server, Oracle, MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft Access.
- Experience with database clustering, replication, disaster recovery, performance tuning, and patch management.
- Strong understanding of schema changes, stored procedures, access control, and security frameworks.
- U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (active clearance preferred).
- Preferred: Experience supporting federal agencies, cloud database solutions (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, OCI), ITIL principles, or relevant database certifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical teams.
