As a Senior Manager in Machine Learning Engineering, you will lead the development and deployment of advanced AI/ML solutions across multiple business areas. You will partner closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps, translate business needs into technical solutions, and deliver high-impact AI initiatives. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, mentoring a team of ML engineers while guiding the adoption of cutting-edge techniques including generative AI, large language models, and reinforcement learning. You will ensure systems are scalable, secure, and operationally efficient, and contribute to creating a culture of engineering excellence and innovation. Accountabilities:
- Lead the vision and strategic execution of AI/ML initiatives, ensuring long-term value creation across business functions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define roadmaps and translate them into actionable quarterly plans.
- Oversee the design, development, and delivery of scalable AI/ML solutions, ensuring quality, reliability, and security.
- Troubleshoot complex technical challenges, optimizing system performance, operational efficiency, and model deployment.
- Mentor and guide a team of ML engineers, fostering professional growth, best practices, and knowledge sharing.
- Apply advanced ML techniques, including deep learning, reinforcement learning, and generative AI, to solve business problems.
- Partner with engineering teams to build ML/AI platforms, inference pipelines, and automated operational frameworks.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related technical field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 10+ years of experience in machine learning and software engineering.
- Hands-on expertise in building and deploying production-grade ML, deep learning, and generative AI models, including LLMs, reinforcement learning, and recommendation systems.
- Strong experience with ML/LLM operations including versioning, automation, observability, training pipelines, and monitoring.
- Proven ability to translate business challenges into scalable AI solutions, balancing technical complexity with production requirements.
- Experience leading and mentoring teams, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, and guiding technical strategy.
- Familiarity with AI/ML infrastructure and tools such as Databricks, MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, and cloud-native environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills, analytical mindset, and effective communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in the automotive industry or regulated environments.
- Knowledge of model interpretability, responsible AI, and advanced experimentation techniques.
- Expertise in batch and streaming microservices, GraphQL/gRPC endpoints, and large-scale AI systems.
- Practical experience in GenAI frameworks, model quantization, fine-tuning, and prompting strategies like Chain-of-Thought or Tree-of-Thought.
