International Rescue Committee

The International Rescue Committee responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises, helping people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC works in more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. They focus on five key outcome areas: Economic wellbeing, Education, Health, Empowerment, and Safety.

In 2024 alone, the IRC enrolled 1.6 million children and youth in learning programs, provided 2.8 million people with access to clean water, delivered 10.6 million primary health care consultations, and supported over 60,000 people including refugees and asylum seekers in the U.S. The organization responds within 72 hours to deliver critical emergency assistance like food, clean water and shelter to people in crisis. They are particularly committed to breaking down barriers faced by women and girls, fighting for a world where women and girls have an equal chance to succeed.
