About the Role
In August of 2021, Hex began building out its Sales team. During that time, we’ve grown our customer base by 5x, and we’re looking to grow it by another 4x in 2022. We’re at a point where we need to start thinking beyond building a sales team and start building a sales organization.
We’re looking for someone to lead our Commercial Sales org focusing on companies with 250 to 5,000 employees. We’ve seen incredible success growing our customer base in this category with companies like Fivetran, Notion, dbt Labs, Workrise, and many more. We intend to double down on this success and make Commercial accounts central to our 2022 growth strategy.
In this role, you’ll be reporting to the Head of Sales and will inherit a team of AE’s that will double by the end of 2022. Your primary responsibility will be serving as a team builder and nurturer. This involves recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and coaching. As the hiring manager, you’ll be tasked with maintaining an AE candidate pipeline and will work closely with our recruiting team to navigate qualified candidates through our hiring process.
Additionally, you’ll be working closely with AE’s to strategize and execute on closing new business and expanding our footprint with existing customers. This will also involve you working with the team to build a pipeline and develop predictable forecasting.
On any given day you might find yourself:
Working with AE’s to build out a comprehensive account strategy
Working with Product + Engineering to scope a new feature needed to win a deal
Strategizing with the CEO + Head of Sales about our GTM motion
Assisting an AE with a tough customer call
Having a conversation with our investors + board members about facilitating an intro into a target account
Partnering with recruiting and leadership to attract, interview, and close top AE talent
To be successful in this role, you will:
Have several years of successfully selling a technical product under your belt.
Have some experience successfully managing high-performing software sales teams.
Understand and be able to teach complex technical concepts.
Have experience with recruiting either as a hiring manager or as a calibrated, trusted interviewer.
Enjoy coaching and motivating others, leading by example while demonstrating humility.
Possess an enthusiasm for working as part of a team and an ability to partner successfully with cross-functional peers.
Be capable of designing right-sized processes, keeping things on the rails while avoiding unnecessary overhead.
Be comfortable in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment.
Love giving and receiving feedback.
