As the Senior Manager Environmental Health and Safety - Hazardous Chemicals Logistics Operations you will lead sustainability, safety, and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy and actions across multiple facilities to ensure sites are changing with the pace of customer demand. You will be responsible for driving compliance with environmental regulations to ensure we are minimizing our impact on the environment. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Promote continuous improvement efforts across multiple sites to achieve compliance and sustainability goals by analyzing data, tracking progress, and identifying and prioritizing actions needed to achieve targets
  • Gain organizational support for initiatives and projects; communicate progress to key stakeholders
  • Track and report environmental compliance metrics; develop solutions and respond to evolving regulatory requirements by evaluating and integrating the requirements to proactively identify actions needed to address any potential risks or impacts on operations
  • Communicate regularly with Operations, Facilities and Leadership on metrics, environmental risks of activities, potential or actual violations, audit results, action plan execution and risk mitigation
  • Assist with review and investigation of incident reports associated with environmental spills and compliance
  • Compile findings and recommendations for corrective actions into summary reports
  • Provide insight on environmental governance, risk management and controls to reduce the risk of violations
  • Liaise with external environmental regulatory agencies
  • Develop, implement and manage EHS key performance (KPIs)
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for OSHA compliance and ensure that all safety-related incidents are accurately reported and thoroughly investigated

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience implementing environmental compliance programs
  • 3 years of supervisory/management experience in a team-focused environment
  • Experience interpreting and applying state and federal environmental regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability or related field or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 8 + years of experience implementing environmental compliance programs
  • Project management experience
  • 7–10+ years of EHS experience in logistics, chemical handling, manufacturing, or related high‑hazard industries.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT/PHMSA, RCRA, RMP, FIFRA and state/local regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing hazardous chemicals and leading EHS programs at a multi‑site or large‑scale operation.
  • Any of the following certifications: CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), CEM (Certified Environmental Manager), HAZWOPER 40‑hour certification, ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 auditor training, DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation certification
