Job Description Summary
The Sub Regional EHS Specialist will ensure compliance with EHS policies, programs, and procedures and government standards. Will communicate and contribute to the development of policies and programs, assist with conducting audits and onsite inspections, and analyze data to provide recommendations for improving processes and programs. The EHS Specialist will interact with customers, government agencies, and other functions for customer pre-qualification and project/outage planning requirements across the outage EHS Plan, do, check, act cycle taking active part on ORR and post outage learning. The EHS Specialist will collect, consolidate, and analyze data from multiple sources to determine site entry statuses for active field employees. The EHS Specialist will recommend innovative solutions and process improvements across multiple areas to achieve overall EHS blueprint. Essential Responsibilities:
- Promote, educate and assess Life Saving Rule implementation
- Support a team of 3rd party EHS Specialists and/or EHS Coordinators
- Present EHS in the ORR and wing to wing outage planning, and take active part in outage PDCA cycle
- Provide Region EHS Leader with in-depth analysis of metrics and recommended ways to improve safety policies and programs
- Contribute to the development of an effective Accident Prevention Program
- Ensure that all employees are informed of, comprehend, and comply with EHS policies and procedures as well as local regulations
- Communicate weekly updates regarding injury and illness awareness and mitigating measures
- Assist with preparing for unannounced audits and inspections by government entities, including but not limited to federal, state, or local municipalities
- Conduct internal audits and provide recommendations to improve audit scores, inclusive of 3rd party audits
- Manage OSHA incident and injury reporting within specified guidelines,
- Conduct timely and accurate follow up investigations
- Implement and manage Safety Task Assignments and SA, JSA, and Risk Assessment training
- Ensure that all EHS training is up to date for all personnel, including customer training and/or job specific required training
- Assist with accident investigations and analyze root causes to determine and implement safety measures which prevent future incidents
- Ensure implementation of Site Safety Plans
- Manage the documentation of safety efforts
- Perform other duties to help proactively drive our Steam Power vision and align with our organization’s core values.
- Ensure closing of actions related to EHS events, audits and regulatory issues
- Ensure required level of compliance to FW 2.0
·Ensure review of required Permits
·Ensure EHS Support required onboarding
- Interface with Resource Manager regarding Site EHS Specialist assignments to outages
- Interface with Customer Service Leader regarding workload forecast and outage planning
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in curriculum related to safety, or the equivalent in training and experience with a minimum of two years in an EHS related position in construction, power generation, or technical industry
- 7+ years applicable experience and demonstrated success/knowledge

- Ability and willingness to travel regionally and/or globally with minimal notice required
- Experience forming, leading, motivating, and directing a strong and effective team
- Proof of strong organizational and research skills

- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proof of ability to prepare accurate reports containing findings and recommendations
- Proof of ability to perform a wide variety of responsibilities under the pressure of time sensitive deadlines
- Ability to display strong customer service skills and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Membership of recognized and accredited professional organizations related to EHS field
- Professional certification in an EHS related field (i.e. ASP, CSP, CIH)
