What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Learning Designer with native or near-native fluency in Italianto lead the design and development of high-quality online degree programmes in collaboration with our partner universities. This role is pivotal in ensuring our online learning experiences are pedagogically sound, engaging, and aligned with best practices in digital education.

As a Learning Designer, you will work directly with academic teams, primarily from Italian institutions, to co-design programmes and modules that reflect excellence in online learning. You will help define the overall learning model for each programme, facilitate collaborative design workshops, and act as a subject matter expert in learning design and digital pedagogy.

What success looks like:

  • Lead the design and development of online degree programmes in collaboration with partner universities, primarily in Italy.
  • Set and maintain the overall learning model and pedagogical framework for each programme, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Facilitate collaborative workshops and consultations with academic staff to co-design curriculum and learning activities.
  • Provide guidance and training to faculty on best practices in online pedagogy, assessment design, learner engagement, and accessibility.
  • Translate complex academic content into clear, learner-centred digital experiences.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including content producers, media teams, technologists, and project managers to ensure successful delivery.
  • Review and provide feedback on draft content and learning materials to maintain academic rigour and pedagogical effectiveness.
  • Support quality assurance processes, including mapping to national and institutional standards.
  • Stay informed about trends and innovations in digital learning and bring new ideas to improve our design approach.

What you bring to the table:

  • Significant experience in learning design or instructional design, particularly in higher education.
  • Proven experience leading the development of online programmes or courses.
  • Strong knowledge of online and blended learning pedagogy, learning models, and assessment practices.
  • Excellent facilitation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with academic staff.
  • Experience designing for virtual learning environments (e.g. Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard) and digital tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience working with Italian universities or in an Italian higher education context.
  • Familiarity with flexible learning pathways.
  • Knowledge of relevant global QA and accreditation frameworks.
  • Native or near-native fluency in Italian both written and spoken a must, working proficiency in English desirable.
