What you'll do
- Drive large projects autonomously, from technical design to launch
- Solve complex architecture challenges, apply architectural standards and start using them on new projects
- Lead code reviews, documentation and take on complex bug fixes, especially on high-risk problems
- Be an example for meaningful code reviews
- Solve and resolve technical and non-technical challenges
- Partner across engineering teams to solve company-wide programmes
- Mentor and level up the skills of your teammates by sharing your expertise through knowledge sharing sessions
- Participate in Agile software development including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, team retrospectives, show and tell demo sessions
Your background:
- 7+ years experience building applications and working on platforms
- Senior-level experience with one or more prominent languages such as Kotlin, Java, Python is required.
- Hands-on experience with AWS
- Fluency in any one database technology (e.g. RDBMS like Oracle or Postgres or NoSQL like DynamoDB or Cassandra)
- Experience creating and implementing well-tested, scalable and performant micro-services and other distributed systems
- Knowledge to evaluate trade-offs between correctness, robustness, performance, space and time
- Practice in mentoring other engineers and influencing decision makers throughout the organisation
- Consider the customer impact when making technical decisions
- Collaboration and people are important to you.
- You enjoy leading and inspiring people first and foremost.
- You promote your team's mission, and anticipate problems that might derail them by improving team and engineering culture and practices.
- You’re technical, but you also use your soft skills to address culture, team practices and connectivity with other teams.
