We are looking for a committed individual to join our System Engineering team with the drive to solve unique and challenging problems for our Defense customers. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of software development and Army Command and Control. This position requires an active Secret security clearance. Limited travel to Picatinny Arsenal, NJ and Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD required.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

    • Provide innovative ideas and solutions to develop a software system to meet customer and operational user requirements
    • Collect mission, user, and system requirements for a complex software system including multiple stakeholders to generate a unified product strategy through user-centered design principles and systems engineering best practices
    • Decompose external data ingest and map into operational capabilities
    • Data modeling of operational concepts 
    • Conduct user engagement sessions with key stakeholders to design, deconflict, prioritize and validate product requirements at varying levels of fidelity
    • Generate user stories with clear acceptance criteria that trace to the product strategy/roadmap
    • Develop system specifications and related documentation to communicate the system design
    • Coordinate with UI/UX team and product owner(s) to develop and validate low- to high-fidelity wireframes in support of product implementation
    • Support the continuous improvement of systems engineering, user experience, and agile development processes
    • Communicate and implement systems engineering processes across the project team
    • Work with software design and development team during the design and development process to ensure functional and non-functional requirements are understood and satisfied
    • Communicate system requirements and design to customers through briefings and presentations

WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

    • Experience designing software systems that support mission command, tactical command and control,  and/or fire support/platform fires
    • Performed requirements analysis for complex systems with multiple stakeholders
    • Decomposed operational requirements into high-level system requirements
    • Decomposed high-level system requirements into low-level requirements needed for implementation
    • Collaborated with business, technical, and mission stakeholders to develop the optimal solutions to ill-defined problems
    • Worked directly with end-users to elicit specified and derived user needs using exceptional communication skills
    • Documented and communicated complex operational/systems concepts and challenges using visual depictions and models that are easily consumable/understandable by engineering/development teams
    • Experience working on DoD/IC-related projects and programs
    • Experience with integrating user-centered design principles into rapid software development
    • Performed systems engineering activities on software-intensive systems
    • Possess exceptional oral and written communication skills and ability to work independently, with minimal direction; self-motivated and results-focused

EVEN BETTER

    • Knowledgeable about US Army’s  digital fire control systems
    • Developed and maintained project and corporate systems engineering processes
    • Led a team of systems engineers on a complex, software-intensive military system
    • Experience in systems engineering of military mission command systems
    • Experience with documenting system interoperability in a complex military system of systems environment
    • Experience with the Atlassian suite of tools including Confluence and Jira
    • Experience using MagicDraw and Cameo
    • Experience with UML or similar modeling 
    • Experience working in an agile software development life cycle
