We are keen on hiring a Senior Data Scientist (m/f/d) who specializes in designing and implementing advanced models that drive operational excellence and smart decision-making in our business. As a key member of our Pricing and Allocation team, you will work closely with data analysts, machine learning engineers, and other data scientists, while also collaborating with business stakeholders and market specialists on a daily basis.


YOUR DAILY ADVENTURES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Pioneering Deep Reinforcement Learning Models: Experiment with and refine deep reinforcement learning algorithms to optimize decision-making processes in real-time pricing and resource allocation, ensuring adaptive and scalable solutions.
  • Advancing Simulation Technologies: Develop and extend simulation models to accurately predict market dynamics and customer behaviour, enabling robust testing of hypotheses and strategies before full-scale implementation.
  • Enhancing Algorithmic Approaches: Innovate and improve upon existing optimization algorithms to handle the complexities of urban mobility and logistics, focusing on efficiency and speed.
  • Real-Time Data Utilisation: Develop systems that leverage real-time data feeds to adjust models on-the-fly, enhancing responsiveness to sudden changes in the operating environment.
  • Custom Reinforcement Learning Architectures: Develop custom reinforcement learning architectures that adapt to variable reward structures typical in dynamic pricing, incorporating uncertainty and risk assessment directly into the model's learning process.
  • High-Fidelity Simulation Environments: Create high-fidelity simulation environments that can model complex interactions between multiple variables such supply, demand, traffic conditions, and local events, influencing pricing and driver allocation.
  • Collaborative Problem Solving: Work closely with your peers and business end-users to identify, understand, structure, and solve complex optimization and allocation problems within the fast-moving urban mobility sector.
  • Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Strive to grow and share your knowledge within the team, particularly in deep learning and deep reinforcement learning. Embody data science best practices and thrive on mentoring your peers, enhancing the collective expertise of our team.
  • Data Science Advocacy: Be a champion of FREE NOW Data Science for both internal and external stakeholders, presenting your innovative work at core company events, meetups, and conferences.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • Experience: You have at least 5 years of experience as a data scientist with a proven track record in operations research and optimization problems.
  • Deep Expertise: You possess a deep understanding of statistical analysis, experience in operations research and optimization techniques, and the inner workings of deep learning and reinforcement learning algorithms.
  • Domain-Specific Knowledge: You hold specific expertise in dynamic pricing, resource allocation, or related fields within operations research.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Python and comfortable with querying databases using SQL.
  • Code Quality: Writing clean code and making your work reproducible is important to you.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Not only are you curious and eager to learn, but you also place a high value on collaboration and are committed to fostering the growth of your teammates by sharing your knowledge and mentoring.
  • Educational Background: While candidates typically hold an advanced University degree in Maths, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other quantitative disciplines, we are open to being convinced otherwise.
