Position: Staff Software Engineer
Location: Austin, TX (Various Unanticipated Worksites)
Responsibilities: Lead the platform development and payment integration process for BigCommerce’s eCommerce platform. Ensure that the integration of payment services with the platform, as well as the development and management of payment integrations, fully align with organizational goals. Build highly-available, high-performance, redundant, and scalable distributed systems. Write code that is high-performance, maintainable, clear, and concise. Collaborate with operations and infrastructure teams to improve the architecture while building and scaling back-end services. Build new features with a focus on testability, extensibility, and maintainability. Collaborate with product and design teams to define feature specifications and timelines. Participate in technical discussions to design new solutions and architecture. Review code to maintain and improve quality and security. Ensure that technical decisions support goals around quality, high performance, scalability, reliability, availability, and security. Position will be headquartered in Austin, TX but is a telecommuting position, allowing for remote employment from various unanticipated worksites throughout the United States.
Educ./experience: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, plus five (5) years of post-baccalaureate experience as a Software Engineer, Staff Engineer, or related role. Experience must include managing applications and building software for Linux-based web application environments; utilizing PHP to ensure performance monitoring and tuning of web applications; and writing code using Scala and Ruby. Position will be headquartered in Austin, TX but is a telecommuting position, allowing for remote employment from various unanticipated worksites throughout the United States.
