Mercer is actively seeking candidates to join its expanding Legal, Risk & Compliance team in either Auckland or Wellington. We are currently hiring for the position of Legal Counsel – Investments/Financial Services.

What will you be responsible for? You will provide advice and guidance to our Wealth business on a wide range of corporate, commercial and financial services related legal issues. This includes drafting and reviewing various agreements and documents, advising on financial services regulation and change.

Our ideal candidate will have experience advising on retail and wholesale investment products and distribution, administration of schemes, and FMCA and associated regulations as they relate to Managed Investment Scheme Manager and Financial Advice Provider Licenses. You will work closely with your colleagues within Risk & Compliance and provide support to our Wealth business and the Chief Wealth Counsel. There is also an opportunity to broaden and develop your knowledge, skills, and experience within Marsh and Marsh McLennan.

What qualifications do you need? To be considered for this role, you should have at least 3 years of post-qualification experience with a current practicing certificate or the ability to obtain one. Ideally, you will have investments experience, including knowledge of FMCA and associated regulations and trust law. However, experience gained in financial services, corporate, or banking in a law firm or corporate organization will also be considered.
