About the Company

At Torc, we have always believed that autonomous vehicle technology will transform how we travel, move freight, and do business.

A leader in autonomous driving since 2007, Torc has spent over a decade commercializing our solutions with experienced partners. Now a part of the Daimler family, we are focused solely on developing software for automated trucks to transform how the world moves freight.

Join us and catapult your career with the company that helped pioneer autonomous technology, and the first AV software company with the vision to partner directly with a truck manufacturer.

Meet the team:

The Actor Fusion Team plays a vital role in our L4 autonomous truck development by ensuring robust perception of actors in the surrounding environment. We focus on developing, implementing, and refining algorithms and systems that track objects of interest (cars, pedestrians, cyclists, signs, etc.) in real-time. This accurate tracking data is critical for various tasks such as motion prediction and path planning.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong software expertise to develop a safe, reliable and performant object tracking system. You will:

  • Lead the design and development of robust software applications for real-time object tracking.
  • Utilize your proficiency in object-oriented programming principles to design efficient, testable and maintainable tracking algorithms.
  • Collaborate with a creative team of engineers and researchers to solve multi-disciplinary problems.
  • Improve how our vehicles act and react in complex and nuanced situations.

What you’ll need to Succeed:

  • Bachelors of Science with 6+ years of relevant work experience in computer science, robotics, or related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience writing production code using modern C++ on Linux
  • Strong proficiency with software architecture and design methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of probability theory and linear algebra.
  • Ability to write clean, documented, and performant code for real-time embedded systems.
  • Proactive, team spirit and open communication.

Bonus Points:

  • MS + 3 years of industry experience OR PhD in relevant topic
  • Strong understanding of object tracking algorithms (e.g., Kalman filters, DeepSORT).
  • Understanding of 3D Geometry and Transforms
  • Proficient with ROS (Robot Operating System)
  • Experience with Python
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
  • Knowledge of safety engineering, functional safety and requirements engineering according to ISO26262
